Have you ever wanted to catch up on the latest news on a specific topic while far away from a radio or a television broadcast? Podcasts, a new media sub-section of Apple’s iTunes, make that possible.
You download a podcast just like you would music or television programs from Apple’s iTunes Website. After you’ve downloaded a podcast onto your computer, you can watch it within a window inside iTunes, view it as a separate media file in Apple’s Quicktime format, or transfer it to your iPod to enjoy any time and anywhere you want.
Ranging from two minutes to ninety minutes, podcasts can be audio only or in video format. Some recent science podcasts have been short NASA reports covering the space program, what’s going on with the International Space Station, solar eclipses, and recently discovered bodies in our solar system, like Xena, the tenth planet. NASA podcasts tend to last roughly five to ten minutes.
You no longer have to wait for radio stations or television channels to deliver news on the topic of your interest. You can subscribe to your favorite podcasts, and iTunes will automatically download them for you as they become available. You no longer have to listen to or watch whatever happens to be broadcast. You can customize the information you receive thanks to this new technology. Visit <www.apple.com/itunes>.
