Try our New Outreach Program Craigmont Planetarium instructors have instituted a new Outreach Program. We will come to your class and teach a standards-based lesson designed to complement your space science unit. We will arrive with all materials required to conduct the lesson. Current lessons include, but are not limited to, the following: The Solar System, The Moon (phases, eclipses, etc.), The Causes for the Seasons, Telescopes. Lessons are designed to be inquiry-based, problem solving, and hands-on. Many topics also lend themselves to an interdisciplinary approach. Two PowerPoint Presentations: Heroes and Heroines
of Space and The History of Spaceflight
may also be presented by a planetarium instructor or teachers may access
them via the Internet.
Distance Education As a part of Outreach Program, the planetarium is working
on a set of online astronomy modules for you to use with your class
as a part of your science curriculum. Planetarium instructors and interns
will act as experts for your unit by communicating with you and your
students via email throughout the unit. The first module, Moon
Phases, is ready to use. We encourage you to bring your students to visit the Planetarium as a great way to end your unit! |
