NCLB Parent Learning Academy and Parent Assembly Schedule

Parental Involvement provides opportunities for active participation with their child/children's education.  Our Parental Involvement policy at Craigmont High School was incorporated jointly with our parents.  Our goal is to prepare parents to be knowledgeable of the skills and information needed to help their children to be successful in school. 

Craigmont High School pledges to eliminate barriers to parental involvement in the following ways:

1.  Consistently acknowledge and greet parents in a friendly and welcome manner, by office staff, when visiting Craigmont High School.

2.  Provide meetings at various times that allow all parents to participate;

3.  Clarify terms using simple and direct language;

4.  Provide written materials printed in both English and Spanish;

5.  Provide Webgrader e-mail address, passwords, and additional helpful information;

6.  Provide interpreter services when necessary;

7.  To express  ideas, concerns, and suggestions and to receive a timely response;

8.  Continue to have daily dialogue throughout the school to ensure success for all students (Staff and Support Staff);

9.  Develop jointly with parents a school/parent compact and engagement plan;

10.  Parents are provided an opportunity to communicate concerns/problems at the school's monthly parent/community meetings.

11. Involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, review, and improvement of parents invovlement and the School Level Family Engagement Plan.

 

Craigmont High School will encourage parents to become meaningfully involved and promote the capacity for strong parental involvement in the following ways:

1.  To participate on the School Leadership Council, Craigmont Parents/Community Organization, and Booster Clubs;

2.  To attend and participate in conferences, workshops, and instructional activities to educate parents on the curriculum and assessments surrounding their children's education;

3.  Conduct regular and flexible parent meetings to keep parents informed of current events and issues, timely progress reports and parent/teacher conferences to discuss the child's progress;

4.  Invite parents to an annual meeting, at flexible times, to explain and observe the Title I NCLB programs, activities, and curriculum;

5.  Provide timely information of current events with a school newsletter, school website to inform parents of school activities, students' progress reports and daily assignments;

6.  Provide a parent and student handbook covering school rules, policies, and procedures;

7.  Parents will participate in revising the Family Engagement Plan and the School Compact; sign and receive a copy of both at the beginning of the school year;

8.  Utilize partnerships with community organizations, adopters, and businesses;

9.  Provide parents with a description and explanation of the curriculum used at Craigmont, forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet.

10.  If the School Level Family Engagement Plan is not satisfactory to the parents, the school will submit comments to the school district.  The school district will submit parent comments to the State Department of Education.

Title I Parent-School Compact

The compact has been jointly developed and agreed upon by Craigmont High School, parents, students, and school staff.

School's Responsibility

I, the undersigned, partner in the education of children at Craigmont High School commit to the following:

  • Provide a safe environment that encourages positive communication between the teacher, parent, and student
  • Stress to teachers the importance of providing regular homework assignments to reinforce classroom instruction.
  • Attendance of students and teachers will be monitored and applauded in various ways.
  • Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction to all students.
  • Parents will be given reasonable access to staff, to volunteer, participate and observe in their child's class.
  • Hold annual parent/teacher conferences to discuss compact and as it relates to their child's achievement.

Teacher's Agreement

I, the undersigned, partner in the education of children at Craigmont High School commit to the following:

  • Providing weekly progress reports and communication regarding student progress.
  • Providing homework that reinforces skills taught in classroom.
  • Providing a welcoming, develpmentally appropriate atmosphere that is conductive to learning.
  • Providing on going communication with parents through: Lesson Line, Webgrader on-line assignments and grades, monthly newsletter and class telephones.
  • Continuing to strive to meet and accommodate the needs of each student.
  • Focusing on enriched skills to promote academic growth towards Gateway graduation and post-secondary experience.
  • Dedicating our time to our receiving professional development to gin knowledge which will ensure student achievement.

Parent's Agreement

I, the undersigned< partner in the education of my child commit to the following:

  • Getting my child/children to school on time and to attend daily.
  • Providing a study place, reviewing my child's homework and other papers on a regular basis.
  • Working cooperatively with the school to maintain proper discipline.
  • Encouraging my child's efforts and being available for questions and support,.
  • Dressing my child in a uniform each day.
  • Providing a safe and loving environment and being a positive role model.
  • Providing supplies and necessary materials for school.
  • Returning report cards and attending parent teacher conferences.
  • Assisting my child in getting a library card.
