| Marketing education prepares high school students for
initial entry jobs and advancement opportunities in marketing careers. In
Cooperative Marketing Education, the students attend classes and earn credit for
working part-time in the afternoon. Marketing Education aids the student in
gaining general knowledge and skills that apply to nearly all marketing
occupations.
Marketing concerns itself with the movement of goods and services. Marketing jobs make up nearly one-half of all the jobs in the United States work force. Also, one of every seven jobs in the country is a selling job. Some of the benefits of marketing employment are high income, job satisfaction, and prestige. In the Marketing Education classroom selling, cashiering, advertising, display, management, marketing math, merchandising, and techniques of getting and keeping a job are only a few of the units taught. Marketing Education may substitute for the Economics required for graduation. Students may enroll for two years, and 1 or 3 credits may be earned per year. DECA is an association of marketing students. We sponsor charitable, leadership, vocational, civic and social activities. The advisor is Thelma Mott.
