Curriculum Offerings. Craigmont is a college preparatory school. In addition to all of the normal curriculum offerings of a major high school, many unique programs are offered in core subjects as well. English Honors English 9-12, Honors Etymology, Honors Mythology, Honors Speech, CLUE, African-American Literature, Advanced Placement Literature and Composition. Mathematics Honors Algebra I and II, Honors Geometry, Honors Pre-Calculus (Pace-Setter), Advanced Placement Calculus, Advanced Placement Trigonometry. Science Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Advanced Placement Biology, Advanced Placement Environmental Science. Social Studies Honors Geography, Honors U.S. History, Honors World History, Honors Economics, Honors Government, Honors Humanities, Practical Law, Advanced Placement World History, Advanced Placement European History, Advanced Placement U.S. History. Foreign Languages Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese. Technology Television Production, Computer Graphics/Design, Multimedia/Web Page Design, Cinema, Horticulture, Culinary Arts/Commercial Food Service. Fine Arts Orchestra, Jazz Band, Show Choir, Advanced Placement Music Theory.
All students graduating on a university or technical path must earn a minimum of 20 credits or 21 for a combined path. The core curriculum for all Craigmont graduates includes: 4 years of English, 3 years of mathematics, 3 years of science, 3 years of social studies, and 1 year of lifetime wellness. Students seeking a university diploma must earn 20 credits including the core curriculum and 2 years of foreign language, 1 year of fine arts and 3 electives.Students seeking a technical diploma must earn 20 credits including the core curriculum and 2 years of technical courses, and 2 electives.Careers and Technology courses offered at Craigmont include food services, horticulture, business information technology, marketing, home economics, nutrition and food services, keyboarding, media concepts, and family and consumer services.Students seeking a combined university/technical diploma must earn 21 credits including the core curriculum and 2 years of foreign language, 1 year of fine arts and 4 years of technical courses. Optional students seeking an honors diploma must earn 20 1/2 credits. Their required courses include: 4 years of honors English or CLUE English (for gifted students in grade 9); a 7-unit combination of honors social studies and foreign languages (French, German, Spanish, Russian, or Japanese); 3 years of mathematics (2 years of algebra and 1 of geometry); 3 years of science (2 labs); 1 year of Lifetime Wellness or ROTC; 1 unit of fine arts; and electives chosen from a wide variety of courses. In addition to regular high school courses, Craigmont has a number of special offerings. ADVANCED PLACEMENT: Students may pursue work in advanced placement courses, in English, U.S. history, Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Music Theory, and Foreign languages. HONORS: Honors courses are offered in English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Languages, Music, and Art.
