Student Council leadership includes a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sgt.-at-Arms. The leadership's Executive Council which includes Student Council officers, officers-at-large, and the Presidents and Presidents-at-Large from each of the four high school classes meets weekly to plan activities and set the agenda for the regular monthly Student Council meetings. The full council is made up of representatives from the approximately 45 freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior homeroom classes. Presidents from each high school club and student organization also serve as ex-officio members. All school-wide and class elections fall under the responsibility of the CHSSC. Election oversight includes the supervision of student voting for Student Council officers, Class Officers, Senior Superlatives, Homecoming Court (football homecoming), and Coming Home (basketball homecoming). Each November is "Feed the Need" month at Craigmont. During this time, the CHSSC sponsors a canned/non-perishable food drive and contest among homerooms which support Memphis Inter-Faith Association's (MIFA) food bank during the fall holiday season. It also works with the Christmas at Craigmont committee to encourage homeroom donation of toys for children of families in need. During the Spring semester, the CHSSC financially sponsors both Boys State and Girls State delegates selected to represent Craigmont as well as its own delegates selected to attend the state Student Council Convention (TASC's annual meeting). The new President and 1st Vice President elected each Spring also receive financial sponsorship to attend the TASC leadership training camp held during the summer. At graduation, the CHSSC awards the Carmen Boaz Memorial Scholarship to a senior who has exhibited special courage and excellence while meeting special challenges or adversity. It also awards several Student Council leadership scholarships to those of its own membership who have made significant contributions to the organization during their high school careers. CHSSC funds itself with bi-annual porch
sales. Proceeds from the Mistletoe holiday dance also fund its student
sponsorships and scholarships. The full council of the CHSSC joins
with this group to meet after school on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at
2:35 p.m. The Executive Council of the CHSSC meets
the Monday before each meeting. CHSSC faculty sponsor is Ellen Kirchoff.
