The Craigmont Ambassador Corps
is a small group of juniors and seniors who are carefully selected after
a rigorous application process. The Ambassadors act as student escorts
and guides for the large number of foreign visitors to Craigmont each year.
These students are International Studies students who are usually fluent
in one or more foreign languages.
The Ambassadors have a number of duties and responsibilities.
First, they must plan an itinerary for each set of visitors. In order to
make the visit significant for the visitors, the Ambassadors must study
the "bios" of the visitors to determine their purposes for coming to the
school. They must then check to see whether or not we have that country's
flag hanging in our Hall of Flags. They are responsible for the entire
visit, including taking pictures, having the visitors sign the guestbook
in the International Center, and preparing advance notification to teachers
and staff to schedule classroom visits and special activities.
Ambassador Corps members also help to maintain the International
Center by updating current files on foreign countries, writing follow-up
letters to members of tour groups, keeping in contact with foreign embassies,
and keeping the bulletin board up to date.
The Corps is also responsible for a program called the
"Foreign Exchange." This project produces a radio program which showcases
the International Studies students and program at Craigmont. The Corps
also creates and publishes a newsletter reflecting the international program
at the school.
